Onsen x Art x Ryokan Daikokuya is established in 1551
Established in 1551, Itamuro Onsen Daikokuya has been a beloved retreat for generations of visitors, who came to relax and enjoy hot springs, art collection, nature, and fine food. Warm your body in the hot springs, refresh your mind by enjoying art, eat healthy food prepared using traditional Japanese ingredients and methods, and let yourself be surrounded by nature. In this way, relax, recharge and rejuvenate both your body and mind.
Daikokuya boasts 100% natural, free-flowing hot spring water. Daikokuya's relatively low temperature water makes bathing enjoyable even for those unaccustomed to hot baths. There is an open air bath, a stone bath, and a wooden bath. Lying back in the open air bath, guests can enjoy the light breeze, the murmur of the river beyond, and the changing colors on the treetops above. The stone bath enjoys an outlook to the trees outside and catches southern sunlight all year around. The wooden bath is lined with Japanese cypress that generates an exquisite aroma. This bath evokes the intimate scale and feel of a traditional Japanese bathing experience. All baths can be enjoyed day or night, throughout your stay.
The rooms combine traditional Japanese and modern Western elements for maximum comfort. Furniture is handmade by a local artist. Guests amy choose from tatami rooms with futons or rooms with raised futon beds. All rooms are en-suite and have both air conditioning and under floor heating. We serve warm meal to your room, brought to you on exquisite ceramics and glassware, handmade by Japanese craftsmen. Both breakfast and dinner are traditional Japanese cuisine, made by our in-house chef using fresh ingredients free from artificial preservatives. Please let us know If we can accommodate any dietary requirements when you make a reservation.
